Open Air Art Show

Date:
Saturday, July 29, 2017 - 1:00pm to 5:00pm

For about a year Dave Huber has been painting scenes along the Ghost Town Trail and would now like to share those paintings with the public, especially people who walk and bike the trail. Huber said he would like for people to see a painting and say “I know exactly where that is.”

After retiring from the State in 2011, Huber got back into his art which he said he had been neglecting since high school. He has attended workshops in Erie, Phoenix and Scottsdale. But his favorite trip was to a monastery owned by St. Francis University in the south of France in 2015. The trip was organized by artist Chuck Olsen with instructor Ron Donoughe. Having been associated with the Cambria County Historical Society for the last 30 years, Dave acted as an agent to have Donoughe paint historic murals at the Cambria County Courthouse in Ebensburg.

“I learned a lot from Ron. That’s exactly how I’d like to paint. I also picked up a lot of good pointers at the workshops, especially in Scottsdale, AZ.”

Dave serves on the Art in Bloom committee; an annual art exhibition at the county courthouse now in its 20th year. He also belongs to a newly-formed group of local artists known as “Arts4All” in Ebensburg and the Mount Aloysius Art Alliance. Dave also volunteers at the Bottleworks/Artworks in Johnstown. He was deeply involved in the project which cover the Bottleworks building in large mosaic tile “tulips”.

Huber thought it would be appropriate to have his works on display outside along the Ghost Town Trail. He plans to hang them on the fence at the West Street entrance in Ebensburg on Saturday July 29 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM during Ebensburg’s Homecoming celebration.

Other dates planned for the Open Air Art Show are August 12 and 19 in the garden of the Dillweed Bed & Breakfast in Dilltown from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and during the same hours at the Vintondale Homecoming on September 2.
