We are offering you a beautiful way to honor the arts and culture of Ukraine. To Ukrainians, the Pysanky represents rebirth, life, Spring and life winning over death. The artform is centuries old and incorporates ancient as well as recent motifs.
Jennifer Fleszar will led this traditional egg-decorating class on Saturday, April 9th, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Gallery. Every student will receive a kistka, candles, eggs, dyes, wax and printed materials. Students may take home their decorated eggs as well as the kistka, wax and printed materials. The class will teach all of the basic knowledge needed to continue making Pysanky. The symbols and motifs are simple geometric figures.
We are asking you to bring a lunch. Most importantly, reserve a spot early, so supplies can be ordered. The cost is $45/student.
