Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center Offers Shopping Nights, Winter Camps for Kids, and a Concert. Just in Time for the Holidays!

Bring on the holidays! The Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center (411- 413 Third Ave. Johnstown, PA 15906) has decked the halls and is opening its doors to the community for an avalanche of holiday-themed activities, concerts, and camps throughout the month of December.

“Last year’s holiday season was so different for everyone,” says Bottle Works Co-Director Melody Tisinger. “We were encouraged to stay inside and shelter in place eliminating the chance to gather with one another. This year, we are so fortunate to invite guests to our campus and present a number of in-person programs that is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.”

Families are welcome to attend our second annual Oh So Artsy Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 16 from 6 PM – 9 PM at the ArtWorks Building (413 Third Ave. Johnstown, PA 15906). The AmeriServ Activity center will be transformed into Santa’s Workshop as we welcome party goers to create crafts, shop the Gallery Shoppe and the Merry Maker’s Mart and more! Education Coordinator Holly Lees and her team of teen apprentices will be on site to help guide attendees throughout the night. Kids can enjoy complimentary refreshments and hot cocoa.
Do you hear sleigh bells? That’s right, Santa Claus is coming to the Bottle Works! Santa is taking a pause from all of his toy-making to make a special visit. Tell him what is on your Christmas list and take Selfies with Santa. To attend, there is a suggested donation of $5, which can be paid in advanced or at the door. Participants 5 and under are free. The following day, let the soulful sounds of Sam Coco and The Evergreens be the inspiration for your creation during our Folk art Creatively Inspired Holiday Concert Friday, Dec. 17 from 6 PM – 10 PM at the AmeriServ Activities Center (Art Works Building – 413 Third Ave. Johnstown, PA 15906). We invite artists, of any age, to come to the concert to create alongside our featured musical guests to show first-hand how music stimulates imagination and more. Sam and the Evergreens will sing all your yule-tide favorites and offer a few originals.

“This is not your typical concert. In all that we do, we try to promote and showcase local artists, known and unknown,” says Tisinger. “Not only will you be able to hear the amazing musical gifts from two of Johnstown’s favorites, but you may discover hidden artistic talent around you. Creators dabbling in all art forms are welcome.”

If making art to music is not your skill, no worries. Enjoy the concert as a music lover. Attendees under 16 are free. When purchasing the ticket, please indicate if you will be an audience member or creator. Tickets are $15 for nonmembers and $12 for BW Members. Space is limited. Table and individual seating are available upon request. Creation pods for artists are limited. This is a BYOB Event. Complimentary refreshment will be available as well. In addition to the concert, young creatives, ages 6 - 12, can join in the holiday festivities and make a few artsy projects with our teen apprentices & education team! Youth activities are FREE with a paying adult. As part of the Bottle Works community building initiative, we are pleased to welcome families and community groups to the BW Workshop in the Tulip Building (formerly the Bottle Works Building). “Gift purchasing can be difficult from some, so we wanted to ease the burden and open our doors and supply closet so individuals can make a unique gift for their loved one,” says Tisinger. The room is filled with an array of supplies to make a number of gifts this holiday season. Guest can make an art stuffed ornament, paint a wooden cutout, and more! The BW Workshop is FREE and open to the public during Bottle Works operating hours!
