On December 7, 2019 at 4:00 PM, as part of their Symphony Steps Out series and in collaboration with the Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership, musicians of all ages and skill-levels are invited to join the Johnstown Symphony’s Community Strings and Johnstown Symphony Youth Orchestra for a festive jam session at the AmeriServ buildinglobby. If you’ve ever wanted to work with Music Director James Blachly, now is your chance! He will conduct this fun and informal chance to play together as a community, as part of a full afternoon of musical activities leading up to the tree-lighting at 6 PM.
“As a way of sharing the great talents of the entire JSO family for the holidays,”James Blachly says, “We are bringing members of our Community Strings, Symphony Chorus and professional orchestra to AmeriServ Bankon December 7th. All instruments and levels are welcomed, and an online sign-up is available at johnstownsymphony.org, where musicians may also download the music in advance of the Community Carol Jam. Music will be provided at the event at the AmeriServ lobby as well, so no prior practice is necessary. Anyone who has a music stand is encouraged to bring one!
