SUMMARY:Johnstown Flood Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:At 4:07 p.m. park rangers will lay commemorative wreaths on the remains of the dam at the time the floodwaters reached Johnstown. Beginning at 7:00 p.m.\, 2\,209 luminaries\, will be lit to honor the victims of the flood. They line the remains of the South Fork Dam and around the Visitor Center. Each luminary will have the name of a flood victim written on it and will remain lit until 10:00 p.m.

We’re proud to present some of the country’s best bands with three days of non-stop entertainment. PolkaFest reflects the rich ethnic heritage of our area that’s been passed down through generations. Polkas were a staple of Western PA wedding receptions\, along with the delicious foods like pierogi\, halushki\, and halupki\, and the famous cookie table! PolkaFest was founded by Polish Bill and Deb Marano whose dream was to “keep Polka music alive”. Bill always said\, “Polka music is happy music!” We hope that PolkaFest will bring a smile to your face and put a hop in your step! \nPolkaFest’s daily admission is $5 on Friday and Saturday\, and Sunday is Free. Minors accompanied by an adult are free. \nPolkaFest is always the first weekend after Memorial Day. DESCRIPTION:This moving exhibition explores Anne Frank’s life within the larger history of the Holocaust and World War II. Through large-scale imagery and historical storytelling\, visitors will follow Anne’s journey while learning about the rise of the Nazi Party and the persecution of Jewish people across Europe. The exhibition will also feature World War II artifacts donated by local residents\, connecting this global story to the personal histories of families throughout the Laurel Highlands\, in a special exhibition titled World War II: Johnstown and Service. Community members trained as docents will guide visitors through the exhibition and help spark meaningful conversations about compassion\, resilience\, and the importance of remembering history.
