Hometown Christmas Stroll on Main

November 13, 2020 - 3:52pm -- Visit Johnstown

As we know, this year has certainly been different from years past. With the holidays quickly approaching, I began to think about holiday traditions that can still go on, such as decorating cookies or making gingerbread houses. Another tradition that I always look forward to is attending Light Up Night with my family. I was thrilled to learn that the event is still happening with a unique holiday twist - a Hometown Christmas Stroll on Main.

The Hometown Christmas Stroll on Main will kick off the holiday season on Friday, November 20th from 6 PM to 7 PM. My family and I will be able to leisurely stroll down Main Street, between Walnut and Franklin Streets. Along our stroll we will see inflatable balloons and floats, visit food trucks, and listen to live music!

Main Street will provide us with entertainment from Koko, Sean McCool, Jacob Czerak on the accordion, and the Conemaugh Valley Marching Band. Inside of 416 Main Street, where the Visit Johnstown office is located, Jill Gontkovic and Luis Gonzalez will fill the lobby with music! The lobby will have over 10 Christmas trees that were decorated by the tenants of the building. As a Visit Johnstown staff member, I have been fortunate enough to watch our main lobby transform into a Christmas wonderland!

Central Park will still be filled with plenty of holiday cheer for us to enjoy! The animated Christmas Tree @ Central Park will be lit, Santa will be there overseeing the crowd, and the Christmas Village will come to life. I also hear that there will even be treat bags provided by ACRP! Everyone, including myself, will be able to get their annual pictures with the tree.

I am truly thankful that the Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership is able to host a safe event that will keep holiday traditions alive! After the crazy year we have experienced, I hope this event will bring holiday cheer and happy memories, for not just my family, but for yours as well. I hope to see you there!
