The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra (JSO) is offeringa series of “night out” style eventswithout the need to set foot outside your door. Lifting Spirits One Glass/Class at aTime wine education classeswill occur via Zoom on August 22, November 7, January 23, and March 20, all from 7:30-8:30 PM. Participants who register for the four-event series will receive aspecial rateand a pair of limited edition Johnstown Symphony Orchestra wine glasses. The community can register for a la carte classesas well, and pick which varietals most appeal to them.
On August 22, wine expert J Austin Bitnerwill explore the rosévarietal with Charles Smith Wines Band of Roses, a light and flavorful wine perfect in warm weather. November 7 isFrench Beaujolais, January 23 is Washington State Merlot, and the series ends with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc on March 20.
The JSO Lifting Spiritsevent will be conducted via Zoom video conferencing platform. Participants willhearfrom J Austin Bitner, a professional event executive who hasgained significantknowledge about wine through his travels and interests, and who also happens to haveadvanced degrees in Opera and Vocal Performance from the Peabody Conservatory. Prior to the Zoom call, attendees will be senta bottle of the wine for that event’s tasting, so that they canexperience it together and follow along with the class.A question-and-answer session will follow his remarks. JSO Maestro James Blachly will be in attendance and willbe a part of the experience.
Attendees must register in advanceand be at least 21 years oldto participate in the Lifting Spiritsevent. The four-event series package including two JSO wine glasses is just $185, including one Zoom connection and one bottle of wine per event in the series delivered or shipped in advance.
