The Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial are pleased to welcome Flight 93 family members’ Ed Root and Emily Schenkel as the featured guests of this weekend’s Flight 93 Speaker Series at Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County.
During this installment of the Speaker Series, Root and his daughter will share stories about their cousin, Lorraine Bay, one of five flight attendants aboard United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11. They will also discuss their experiences in the development of the national memorial, including the much-anticipated Tower of Voices. Additionally, Schenkel will explain, as a mother, the challenges in discussing events like September 11 with her young children.
Three sessions, free and open to the public, will be held at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 and noon only on Sunday, June 16 in the memorial’s Learning Center. Friends Board Member Sheena Baker will facilitate this month’s lecture series.
