Costumed interpreters perform the tasks that made the Allegheny Portage Railroad function. Programs include: stone cutting, log hewing, rope making, clothing, historic toys and games, and more! Programs vary on a daily basis, so inquire at the Visitor Center to see which programs are being offered the day of your visit. These programs usually require a little help from the younger visitors in the group! These programs are generally held from 10:00 am-12:00 pm in the mornings and from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm in the afternoons. Do keep in mind that while it is possible to move some programs indoors, inclement weather (i.e. thunderstorms) may cause the cancellation of programs during the day. These programs are staff dependent.
