
Life is fine with a little wine...and we have a lot!
October is Wine Month, and we know there are plenty of wine lovers out there! We did some research, made a few calls, and sampled a few glasses of aged liquid, and we did all of this to provide you with a definitive list of the best wines our local area has to offer! So, let's jump into it shall, we?

Our first location is a local favorite: B & L Winery! B&L is a family-owned winery located in the Cambria City section of Johnstown, PA. Established in 2012 their mission is to bring a variety of Pennsylvania and California grape varietals to the area. They also host wine tastings, local band nights, and seasonal activities such as a Halloween party! Recently they have started featuring a local food truck outside of their Cambria City location along with selling their wine! In addition, B & L has a Bon-Air location where they hold a majority of their larger events. This particular location is not open this year, but look forward to 2021 for more information! Their top three best-selling wines are:
1. Thunder Red - (semi-sweet red blend)
2. Niagara - (Sweet white wine)
3. Cambria City Red - (dry red blend)

Our next stop, on this trip of fine wines and the people who make them is Germantown Winery. Nestled in the mountains of Portage, Pennsylvania is a quaint, local winery with German roots…Germantown Winery! Throughout the year they offer numerous activities such as regular music and food trucks, painting parties, comedy nights, trivia nights, and movie nights. They also have a large Oktoberfest every year along with their annual cork n’ cheese, wine tastings, and a Valentine’s Day dinner. They have a long list of wines available, but here's their top three:

Tucked away in the hills of the Allegheny Mountains of Central Pennsylvania, Woody Lodge Winery made their wines public from an amateur wine making location to professional wine making in the fall of 2013. Their "love of fine wines has made our lodge the heart of Ashville, Pa and the surrounding area". They are constantly growing and adding to your experience at their lodge. You won’t find a drink menu similar to Asiago’s Wine and Martini Bar at any other martini bars in the area. Asiago’s is quickly becoming famous for a wine list with more than 100 selections, custom blended vodka and rum infusers, signature martinis, seasonal sangrias, remarkable craft beers, and specialty mixed drinks. During the evening, they focus on a creative dining experience. They also offer a variety of fresh delicious dishes, exciting signature cocktails, craft beer, and wine. Also, they are known for their Mission Inn location next door which features local bands! Their top three wines from their wide variety are:

Located in the Windber Agway building on Stockholm Avenue in Windber, Fine Wines and Home Brew is the only local hobby shop for winemakers and home brewers, as well as a retail location for Glades Pike Winery of Somerset. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday, but 24/7/365 online at
