Culture & Comics

Friday, September 10, 2021 - 5:30pm

Join us for the First lecture on our Ditko Con mini-con kick off evening, Culture and Comics: an artistic journey!

Cartoonist Javier Hernandez presents “Culture & Comics”, a visual presentation featuring a brief history of Latino comic creators in the U.S. marketplace, as well as the origins and inspirations of his comic book character El Muerto. Launched in 1998 through his imprint Los Comex, El Muerto blends Aztec mythology with the Day of the Dead folklore from Mexican culture. A film adaptation was produced in 2007, and today El Muerto continues in a series of graphic novels. There will be a Q&A following the presentation.

Admission is free, pre-registration is required, and priority will be given to VIP Ditko Con participants. Call 814-535-2020 to register in advance.
