Cottages on the Lake

Heritage Johnstown is pleased to present this program in cooperation with the National Park Service. In this illustrated presentation, Doug Bosley, chief of interpretation/site manager for the Johnstown Flood National Memorial, will share what’s known about the 16 cottages belonging to members of the South Fork Fishing & Hunting Club (the owner of the dam that failed, causing the 1889 flood). Details about the cottages’ ownership were lost over time, until the discovery of a box of documents from the collection of John Kephart of the Cambria County Historical Society enabled society members and NPS staff to determine the owners of each of them.
