The Johnstown Mill Rats are part of the Prospect League, which is a summer college baseball league featuring top college players who are looking to improve their skills and to potentially play professional baseball. The League operates under NCAA rules, allowing the participants to maintain their NCAA eligibility.

The Annual Chernisky Classic 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run is a family-friendly event that includes an out-and-back 5K and 10K course on the nationally recognized Ghost Town Trail, as well as a free Firecracker Race for kids 8 and under.
