Living History Day

Our annual Living History Day is Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This free event has something to offer visitors of all ages. A wide variety of programs will be offered including stone cutting, rope making, natural dyes, traveling trunk, children's games, and tracks and scat. 

The 2nd Pennsylvania, Company B- American Highlanders will tell their stories and perform black powder demonstrations at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. The American Highlanders were a group of men who worked on the Allegheny Portage Railroad and fought in the Mexican American War.

Children who visit each station will receive a Junior Ranger badge in the Visitor Center. Join us to learn about what it was like to work and travel on the Allegheny Portage Railroad!
