Portage Area Historical Society Train Station Mural

400 Lee St.
Portage, PA 15946

This historic mural is located just a few short steps away from the Portage Station Museum. The mural, which was painted by local artist Michael Allison. depicts ‘Jake’ Stager (founder of Stager’s store), Ruth Richardson (Historical Society Original Board Member and Community supporter), Phil Stager is the little boy, (son of Jake and supporter of this community), and Deb Novotny (Historical Board member and Administrator of this Facebook Page) as the baby in the pram. The green dinosaur is in the mural as homage to Patrick Price, who was an exceptional artist at a very young age. He painted a green dinosaur in the tunnel a long time ago which remained for several years. The mural shows where passengers would have originally ascended the stairs to catch the train when the station was still in operation.
