
Three to four miles of trail described as “relatively easy terrain.” Weather permitting, park grounds and trails are open daily sunrise to sunset.

Located in Lorain Borough, these well kept trails have lots of opportunities for winter recreation! With several trailhead markers and lots to explore, this trail system will have visitors coming back again and again for more fun!

Located in Indiana and Cambria Counties, this rail trail offers 46 miles for cross-country skiers. The trail is also groomed from Ebensburg, Nanty-Glo, and the spur. Follow the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority Facebook page for trail grooming updates!
Ski rentals are available at the Young Peoples Community Center in Ebensburg, PA. Equipment rental reservations can be made by calling 814-659-4819.

Seven miles of “groomed” trails are available in the northern section of Cambria County.

Registered snowmobiles may use the 20-mile trail network. Snowmobiles may be operated on designated trails and roads from the day following the last deer season in December until April 1, weather permitting.

33 mile trail connecting Prince Gallitzin State Park and Black Moshannon State Park.

The 13,625-acre Laurel Ridge State Park stretches along Laurel Mountain from the picturesque Youghiogheny River at Ohiopyle, to the Conemaugh Gorge near Johnstown. Snowmobiles are restricted to designated trails.
State Game Land #42’s trail is 26 miles and encompasses Cambria, Somerset and Westmoreland counties. State Game Land #79’s trail is nine miles and is located in Cambria and Indiana counties. State Game Land #108’s trail is seven miles in Cambria County. Gallitzin State Forest provides 21 trail miles in Cambria and Somerset counties.
Ice boating is available on Glendale Lake at Prince Gallitzin State Park. Boats must display a state park launch permit.

Ebensburg’s Lake Rowena, is one of the first lakes in the area to freeze and offers safe ice in a small, roped-off ice skating area. To obtain a report on the lake’s condition, phone the Ebensburg Borough office. Hit the ice at Prince Gallitzin State park by utilizing a section of ice they have marked off for skating!

Indoor ice skating is offered at the 1st Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena (Johnstown) and the North Central Recreation Center (Ebensburg).

The 1,635-acre Glendale Lake is popular for ice fishing. Common species caught through the ice are Perch, Walleye, Pike and Crappies. Ice thickness is not monitored. For safety, be sure the ice is four inches thick and carry safety equipment. Lake Rowena in Ebensburg is stocked with adult trout both during the regular season and as part of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Winter Trout Program. While Duman Lake also offers ice fishing opportunities. Rowena traditionally is one of the first in the area to develop safe ice each winter. There are lots of great hills to sled down in Cambria County! Prince Gallitzin State Park has a dedicated sledding area. Also, Stackhouse Park, , and Berkley Hills Golf Course have popular sledding areas that can be experienced while visiting.
