Fall Fun in Cambria County!

There’s a chill in the air…

The overwhelming heat of summer is gone and an autumnal chill surrounds you, it must be fall! Whether you’ve been here all your life, or if you’re just planning on visiting, Cambria County has a little bit of everything for the fall fanatic in you! The area is rich with picturesque views, enhanced by the fall foliage that only makes it better. Also, if corn mazes are more your thing we have quite a few of those too! So come join us as we travel through the area and introduce you to some of the best we have to offer!!

Corn Maze Craze

Sometimes the best way to find what you’re looking for is to get a little lost along the way…Many associate fall with finding their way through an intricately cut maze of corn and it’s hard to blame them; these mazes are a ton of fun! Cambria county is centrally located around almost a dozen corn mazes and most put in a great amount of effort to make these mazes look amazing.

Weakland Farms – [Directions]

This is another great corn maze worth highlighting! In the heart of Portage PA, located just 30 minutes from downtown Johnstown, is Weakland Farms! They have plenty of fun fall activities for the whole family to enjoy, and they’re open all the way into November! The farm also offers a variety of pumpkins to choose from! The admission price is $10.

Valewood Farms – [Directions]

OPEN: September 28th, 2020 – October 18th, 2020

Hours:
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Daily

We’ll be talking more about this farm’s great pumpkin patch event in the next section, but we just have to mention how amazing their corn maze is! It’s one of the many things that you get when you pay their five-dollar admission fee for entry.

Hoover’s Corn Maze And Pumpkin Patch – [Directions]

OPEN: September 18 – November 8th, 2020

Hours:
Sunday – Thursday 11:00 AM to dusk.
Friday and Saturday 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Pumpkins, gourds, and mums for sale, along with a Corn and straw maze for the little ones. They also have shelled corn for the kids to play in! Their pumpkins are priced based on size – $1 -$10 and Corn stalks are $1 for a bundle of six. Their maze this year is planet themed and costs $6 per person. Also their mums, which are $9 each, are going fast so make sure to stop in soon.

Hite Farms Corn Maze – [Directions]

Open: Saturday/Sunday September 10th – November 1st

Hours:
1 PM – 8 PM

This location offers a corn maze, wagon ride to a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, a large corn box for kids to play in, barnyard animals, refreshments and so much more!

Fall Fun and Gourds Galore

Looking for a unique pumpkin picking experience that’s so much more than just that? Everyone’s favorite orange fall decoration is definitely not in short supply in Cambria County. Here’s a list of pumpkin patches that are sure to please!

Valewood Farms – [Directions]

OPEN: September 28th, 2020 – October 18th, 2020

Chiefly known for their exceptional dairy products, Valewood Farms is also well known for its pumpkin patch! The five-dollar admission price for the patch includes games, a giant corn box (Like a sandbox, but with corn!), and lots of fall photo ops. Kids two and under are free for all events. They also have locally-grown fall decor, pumpkins of assorted sizes and colors, gourds, corn stalks, straw bales, Indian corn, and more!

Benshoff Farms – [Directions]

This little farm located in New Germany PA also has a great selection of jack-o-lantern worthy pumpkins for sale every year and you get to pick your own; how cool is that? They aren’t open for sales just yet but keep an eye on their Facebook page as October draws near!

Smithmyer’s Farm – [Directions]

Seven days a week from dawn to dusk via the honor box system

This little market (depicted above) is a great source of all things fall! Prices for everything are clearly marked, and a lock box is present, so you can stop by whenever works best for you! A limited amount of change is available, so please bring cash and smaller bills in order to leave the correct amount. The market is staffed much of each weekend if you prefer to come when help is present, and they are always happy to answer some of your questions. Visit soon and stock up for all your fall decorating needs!

This local market is a must-stop if you’re looking for quality pumpkins for display and carving! They also offer a variety of fresh produce with a selection of fruits and vegetables daily so make sure to check them out before it gets too cold!

Dickert Farms – [Directions]

October 4: 12-7 PM
October 11: 12-7 PM

Activities at this fun pumpkin patch include: Hay ride & pumpkin picking, pumpkin decorating, cider Press demonstration, photo area, ring toss, cornhole, pumpkin tic tac toe & more! They also have a variety of produce, corn stalks,
gourds, mums, and pumpkins available for purchase. The hayride is $2 for each person regardless of age. All pumpkins in the field are $5, and you pay before getting back on the wagon to return to the main area!
Pumpkin decorating, games, cider demonstrations, and other fun activities are complimentary.

Seads Garden Center – Mini Fall Festivals! – [Directions]

Saturday October 3rd

10 AM – 5 PM

A trimmed down version of the fall festivals we know and love! This event boasts seven food and drink vendors along with live musical performaces! They’ll also have hay bales, cornstalks, pumpkins, Indian corn, mums and more for sale!
