1. Visit the Johnstown Flood National Memorial

Learn about the events of the 1889 Johnstown Flood at the Johnstown Flood National Memorial. The visitor center features exhibits and a film about the disaster, while the grounds preserve the remains of the South Fork Dam and offer scenic views of the surrounding landscape. 2. Hike/Bike the Ghost Town Trail Loop

Spend the day exploring the Ghost Town Trail Loop, one of Pennsylvania’s premier rail trails. The loop combines sections of the Ghost Town Trail and Hoodlebug Trail, offering a scenic route through forests, small communities, historic mining areas, and alongside streams. 3. Visit the Johnstown Stone Bridge at Night

The Johnstown Stone Bridge is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and is especially striking after dark when it is illuminated. Built in 1888, the historic railroad bridge played a significant role during the 1889 Johnstown Flood and remains an active rail crossing today. At night, the bridge features a stunning light show that brings its historic arches to life in a flash of vibrant colors.

4. Walk Through the Staple Bend Tunnel

Take a walk along the Staple Bend Tunnel Trail to visit the first railroad tunnel constructed in the United States. The scenic trail follows a former railroad grade for about two miles to the tunnel, making it an easy hike for most visitors.

Discover local and regional artists by visiting one of the Johnstown region’s free art galleries. Rotating exhibitions showcase a variety of artwork throughout the year, making each visit unique. The Community Arts Center of Cambria County, the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, Gallery on Gazebo, and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art all feature free exhibits featuring the immense talent of the Johnstown region and beyond!

6. Take a Selfie at the Steve Ditko: Spider-Man and Doctor Strange Mural

Celebrate the legacy of Johnstown native Steve Ditko with a stop at the downtown mural honoring his co-creation of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. It’s a popular photo opportunity for comic book fans and visitors exploring the city.

7. Visit the Majestic Hinckston Run Waterfall
